19. Moe Baby Blues

While the running joke of Moe being suicidal has grown a little stale over the years, bringing him to the forefront worked much, much better for season fourteen's finale Moe Baby Blues than it did in Judge Me Tender years later.
The episode sees Moe accidentally saving Maggie's life while in preparation to take his own, and henceforth become obsessed with caring for the young child. Unfortunately, Moe's parental yearnings reach creepy babysitter levels when he gives her a play house version of his own bar as a gift (complete with drunken Homer), and installs his own baby monitor in Maggie's room to check up on her.
To be frank, Moe Baby Blues isn't the best Simpsons season finale, but it was a new take, an original idea at the point where the Simpsons was beginning the really hit its mid to late teens slump.
