https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSB0wv5SPN0 2008 was only the second year that John Lewis opted to utilise a Christmas advert and though their effort wasn't poor by any stretch of the imagination, it is obvious in retrospect that the company was, at this point, merely interested in demonstrating their range of products rather than trying to steal our hearts and minds with a captivating story. From Me To You showcases a selection of people and the gift that would supposedly be perfect for them (pairing a tired man with a coffee maker and a soaked woman with an umbrella), suffixed with the simple slogan of "If you know the person, you'll find the present". Though successful at informing the customer of potential gift ideas, the advert struggled to stand out against those put out by the retailer's competitors, and ultimately falls quite flat as a result, even in comparison to its 2007 predecessor.
