Ranking The Major Buffy The Vampire Slayer Villains From Worst To Best
6. Dark Willow
Willow's magic addiction arc has always been the subject of intense scrutiny from large parts of the fandom, and in some instances, it's easy to see why.
The use of magic as a metaphor for drug addiction is not subtle, and in execution is a little ham-fisted, however, Willow's affinity for the dark arts was seeded as early as season two, and whether you like it or not, there's no denying that Dark Willow is a bit of a badass.
After losing Tara at the hands of Warren, Willow acquires all the magic she can get her hands on and sets out on a quest for revenge. She soon manages to punish Warren for his crimes, but that one act of vengeance turns her into Buffy's latest enemy. And whilst you wouldn't think that Willow could ever hold her own in a fight with Buffy, Dark Willow is able to comfortably beat her into submission with spells and brute force.
Her eventual plan to destroy the world to end all suffering may seem a little tacked-on, but everything in the lead-up to her apocalyptic plans is a joy to watch and a real highlight of the show's much-maligned sixth season.
