Ranking The Major Buffy The Vampire Slayer Villains From Worst To Best
14. Ethan Rayne
Ethan may have only made a handful of appearances across the first four seasons of the show, but his trickster-like nature ensured that every one of those episodes was a bucketload of fun.
His first scheme saw him selling cursed Halloween costumes that turned the wearer into whatever they were dressed as. A surprisingly effective spell that very nearly saw Buffy killed at the hands of Spike. Ethan eventually returned to Sunnydale to perform a task for Mayor Wilkins. He began distributing tainted chocolate bars that made the adult population of Sunnydale revert to their teenage personalities - which for the record, is one of the very best episodes of the show.
His final act of bastardry saw him turn Giles into a demon, which was not only hilarious to Ethan but to us watching too, providing us with one of season four's most underrated episodes.
Beyond causing utter chaos wherever he goes, Ethan has no real set agenda outside being paid and enjoying himself, which does mean that he doesn't make a huge impact on the show overall. One thing's for sure though, if Ethan Rayne suddenly appeared on-screen, you knew you were in for a fun episode.
