Red Dwarf Cast: Where Are They Now?
4. Norman Lovett - Holly
Norman Lovett played the eponymous ship's computer Holly for seasons one, two, seven, eight, twelve, and the movie The Promised Land. The hyper intelligent computer was absent for a lot of Red Dwarf, and after Lovett's departure from the show, was portrayed by Hattie Hayridge in seasons three, four, and five.
Lovett, the original Holly actor, is actually a stand-up comedian who worked on a variety of shows throughout the 1990s. He wrote and starred in his own show called I, Lovett, as well as working on the short-lived comedy Asylum with Simon Pegg, Jessica Stevenson and Julian Barratt, and Is it Bill Bailey? starring Bill Bailey.
Since his work on Red Dwarf, Lovett has appeared on stage with other Red Dwarf actors such as Chris Barrie, and the aforementioned Hattie Hayridge. More recently he was a main cast member of the BBC Radio 4 comedy To Hull and Back.
Lovett is also a political activist, frequently seen supporting the Labour Party as various stand-up comedy events. Lovett, fittingly, has also provided his voice as a purchasable voice for the computer in the video game Elite Dangerous.
