Rick And Morty: All Season 1 Episodes Ranked

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub! Which episodes are the best of Rick and Morty Season 1?

Rick and Morty Jerry
Adult Swim

The first season of Rick and Morty was the start of a worldwide phenomenon that would go on to become not only one of the most popular animated shows, but one of the most popular TV shows ever. It introduced us to the drunken genius scientist and his meek grandson, as well as a host of supporting and guest characters.

However, Season 1 as a whole is hardly Rick and Morty at its best, and this is widely acknowledged by fans. Some episodes are worse than others, and some of the earlier ones were full of a bizarreness which was fortunately eliminated later.

The animating style was still in development during the first season, so characters and locations look slightly different from their present appearances, and for those who have seen the show in its later years, this is definitely distracting.

Even so, there were definitely some redeeming standout episodes, and these few justify watching all eleven of them.

With such substantial differences in quality, the first season of Rick and Morty is an ideal list to rank from worst to best. Which episode will come out on top?

11. Pilot

Rick and Morty Jerry
Adult Swim

As the saying goes, you can only make a first impression once. Unfortunately, most people's first impression of Rick and Morty is based on the first episode, Pilot, and this ends up deterring many viewers from watching more of the show.

Pilot is packed full of obscenity. Even though the show is aimed at young adults, the level of obscenity here is unnecessary and off-putting. More so than any other episode in the season, it is plain to see that the creators were still figuring out what to do with the characters and the concepts. In fact, the styles of writing, artwork, and voice-acting in this half-baked episode are all outlandish to most fans.

Pilot begins with a pre-credits sequence in which Rick is about to destroy the planet with a nuclear bomb (the voice acting is at its worst here), only to reveal it was a test for Morty. Later, after a look into Morty's inappropriate fantasies, a Rick and Morty adventure to some lurid alien plane ensues. Meanwhile, Jerry tries to convince Beth to put Rick in an old people's home. The conclusion sees Rick drooling and rambling over Morty, who is cringing on the floor as the effects of an oversized alien seed begin to affect him. Yep, it's all as weird as it sounds.

It only gets better from here.
