Rick And Morty: All Season 1 Episodes Ranked
8. Raising Gazorpazorp
Raising Gazorpazorp sees Morty become a father (the exact circumstances are inappropriate for narration) to a demonic alien creature whose mother is part of what is best described as a race of radical feminists. Morty forbids his child, whom he names Morty Junior, from leaving home, for fear that the abhorrent thing would bring death in his wake if he were ever to go out. Meanwhile, a subplot sees Rick and Summer try to track down Morty Junior's biological mother. The episode ends with Morty Jr. managing to leave the house, and eventually writing a book about his experience, which he titles "My Horrible Father".
The parallels between Morty's parenthood and the role almost all parents have to assume are plain to see. Senior plays the overprotective parent while Junior is the imprisoned child yearning to go out and live his life. The child's lack of appreciation for the parents' concerns is aptly summarised by Beth in the post-credits scene: "It's a thankless job, Morty."
In spite of this interesting allegory, the episode is decidedly dull, and the satirical alien feminist society is a weak attempt at the wit that usually characterises Rick and Morty.
