Rick And Morty: All Season 2 Episodes Ranked

5. Mortynight Run

Rick and Morty Stephen Colbert
Adult Swim

If Look Who's Purging Now showed Morty's murderous dark side, then Mortynight Run shows him at his most compassionate. It is here that the different morals and beliefs of the series' two eponymous characters are most apparent.

The episode follows Morty's desperate attempt to save a life - regardless of the ramifications - while Rick holds firm on his belief that nothing matters. He also holds firm on the idea that the constant death and destruction of the world can be ignored by playing games at Blitz and Chitz - something that would soon become an instantly recognisable location.

The fictional video-game "Roy" and alien assassin Krombopulos Michael, both common subjects for discussion among fans, are first shown here too.

Jerry subplots never hurt, proven by his narrative thread involving his encounters with other Jerrys after being dropped off at the Jerryboree daycare centre by Rick, which seems irrelevant but still manages to work.

Boosted further with the magnificent "Goodbye Moonmen" soundtrack, Mortynight Run balances philosophical themes with fart jokes in a typically Rick and Morty fashion, all to give us a fantastic episode.
