Rick And Morty Season 3: 8 Things We Cannot Wait To See

6. Grow Up Summer!

Rick and Morty Season 3
Adult Swim

Summer and Beth are the most naïve characters of the show. True, Jerry and Morty may be whiny whimps who always let Rick walk over them, but they at least understand that Rick is an agent of chaos who cares mostly about himself.

However, in the comic book series, an alternate universe Summer protects Morty C-137. She aims to shelter him from the Smith family and Rick. But, in the show it is the other way around. It is always Morty trying to shield Summer from the constant chaos and disappointment which accompanies Rick wherever he ventures.

Although different, Summer is undeniably presented as becoming darker in the television show. The sight of her standing over and brutally wasting away a wounded mutant from the assumed to be Mad Max: Fury Road universe shows how far she has come.

It’ll be fascinating to see whether Summer becomes more like Rick. If she’ll replace Morty as his lapdog sidekick. Or if she’ll instead grow up and accept the fact that her grandpa is a b******. Whatever happens, it'll be exciting and refreshing to see Summer develop as a character, rather than continue to be the egotistical, constantly moaning daughter who always cares about her popularity and phone.
