Riverdale: Ranking All The Main Characters From Worst To Best
7. Archie Andrews
Archie Andrews, the show's protagonist, is massively overshadowed by the bigger personalities around him, but he is by no means a bad character. KJ Apa has done an admirable job of making the high schooler an endearing, even relatable guy, and Archie's loyalty, genuine kindness and selfless nature make him easy to root for as a whole.
But, boy, do the writers struggle to balance his virtues with his failings. Though he is, in many respects, the nicest guy on the show (bar his own father), Archie's constant mistakes, nonsensical decisions and weird actions constantly threaten to alienate him from the audience.
Archie should have grown a lot more than he has, but as it stands he is a character unable to learn from his biggest mistakes and weaknesses. He's constantly saved by his friends, and has gone from normal teen with an aptitude for singing to one-dimensional boxing champ seemingly overnight.
Archie is funny, he's sweet and his naivety does sometimes make him a great character, but all told his inconsistencies and poor overall development really let him down.
