Riverdale Season 3 Finale: 8 Ups & 3 Downs From 'Survive The Night'

2. Nathalie Boltt's Performance

Riverdale Penelope Blossom Nathalie Boltt
The CW

The reveal that Penelope was the mastermind behind the whole Gargoyle King plot should have been a disappointment - not only is the character essentially the personification of a Black Widow, she was already considered one of the primary suspects in the Gargoyle King race because of her history with Gryphons & Gargoyles. But it wasn't disappointing, not in the slightest. The reason, of course, was down to Nathalie Boltt's incredible performance.

Whether Penelope was casually toasting at dinner like a calm and collective psychopath, emotionally recalling how the town had inflicted irreparable damage on her during her childhood or standing in the creepy woods like the evil queen that she is, Boltt absolutely radiated on-screen - making every bonkers action seem 100% plausible.

If anything, 'Survive The Night', should encourage the-powers-that-be to promote her to a series regular. She's been nothing short of brilliant during her three-season recurring stint and, as we saw here, she's more than capable of killing it in a regular role.

More Nathalie Boltt in Season 4, please. There is so much untapped potential with the Penelope character and Boltt is everything you could ever want from a great villain.
