Riverdale Season 3 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
8. What Happens?
The season finale definitely took the "it all happened so fast" approach to a whole new level as a lot went down within its first few minutes.
Picking up where last week's episode left off, Toni informed Penelope of Edgar's plans - only to end up unconscious as the Blossom matriarch made her way to The Farm and, um, purchased Betty. She then sent around dinner invitations to Jughead, Archie and Veronica and, when the core four were seated, she revealed that she had orchestrated the Gargoyle King-inspired madness, before letting Jughead use his sleuthing skills to deduce the King's identity.
Following that, all four of them were forced to spend a night in the woods together as they completed a number of quests in a real-life game of Gryphons & Gargoyles. In the end, they all managed to overcome the odds and, thanks to a last-minute assist from an unlikely army, they did indeed survive the night.
In the aftermath, the foursome discovered that a certain brainwashed "Farmie" wasn't all that brainwashed, and that a certain presumed-dead half-brother was actually alive all this time. But as they raised a milkshake and pledged to have a cheerful senior year, a flash-forward teased that a sinister future awaits them - one that the smiles of the present were completely unaware of.
