Riverdale Season 3 Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

5. The Farm Lives To Brainwash Another Day - Or Does It?

'Survive The Night' may have prioritised the Gargoyle King saga, but it still made some time for Riverdale's other mysterious institution: The Farm.

With too many people growing suspicious of The Farm's activities, Edgar Evernever decided that it was officially time to ascend. With that, he took the entire Farm with him as they went off to do just that - leaving only Kevin behind to tell the "naysayers".

While the whole narrative was as illusive as ever, it's worth noting that the term "ascend" was used by disciples of the Gargoyle King, usually before they sacrificed themselves in his name. Though both narratives ran alongside each other throughout the season, they never appeared to be linked so, now that we know Penelope was essentially the Gargoyle King, how would that tie into Edgar's planned ascension? On the other hand, maybe the two entities aren't related whatsoever and that their only similarities are their abilities to manipulate people into ascending.

As the "Farmies" apparently ascended, fans have been left wondering where they all went. This lack of closure would suggest that Edgar and the institution are set to return next season but, if his ascension has the same results as the Gargoyles' ascensions, then maybe we've seen the last of every "Farmie" for good.

Let's hope that's not the case because there is one woman who viewers are hoping will finally bring the cult leader to justice...
