Riverdale Season 4 Midseason Finale: What Does The Ending Really Mean?

1. Dark Betty Killed Jughead

Riverdale Betty Cooper
The CW

Ever since the first flash-forward in the third season's finale, Riverdale fans have been on edge waiting to see if their beloved Jughead Jones would indeed perish during Spring Break. Since then, multiple flash-forwards have shown us Jug's body and even painted Betty, Archie and Veronica as the lead suspects in the crime.

However, things took a darker turn in the midseason finale, as we were taken to the scene of the crime to see Jughead's dead body, with Betty at the scene holding a bloody rock. Now, this is clearly suggesting that Betty - in one of her dark Betty's trances triggered by the word 'tangerine' - was the one who ultimately killed her boyfriend.

Given that things on Riverdale are rarely what they seem, it's highly likely that this is merely a rouse to make us think it's Betty but, again as this is Riverdale, anything is possible, really.
