Riverdale Season 4 Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs From 'Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times At Riverdale High'
3. One-Dimensional Characters
The CWWhile we have met Reggie's father before, he merely appeared in this episode to shout orders to his son from the sidelines of the field - something he'd never done before - and spout one-dimensional one-liners about how he was going to make him pay for the mistakes he made on that field.
In spite of that, the writers managed to produce a convincing narrative surrounding Reggie's emotional struggles - and that's because the spotlight was firmly placed on Reggie. But could you imagine how much that story would have benefited if his father was more than a corny villain-of-the-week?
As for Riverdale's new principal, Mr. Honey? Well, this writer is more than happy for Cheryl Blossom to have a new enemy (the hair flip in his face was particularly enjoyable), but it might help if he was more than a flat perpetually-broody textbook principal.
