Secret Invasion Episode 2 Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs

1. Up - The Invasion Is Real

In the Secret Invasion comic arc, the word invasion is more than apt. This was a full scale attack on the people and heroes of Earth from the shape-shifting aliens. However, in an adaptation, particularly one in which the director was told not to read the source material, there was a risk that this wouldn't be on the same level.

Fans already knew that the Skrulls were very different in the MCU, and that they were refugees rather than the initiators of an invasion. However, episode two went into more detail into just how many Skrulls are living on Earth. Though Talos told Fury their people were scattered across the galaxy, all one million of the Kree war survivors made it down to Earth.

So, ever since 1995, there have been approximately one million alien invaders living on Earth, infiltrating the human race as we know it. Aside from taking Everett Ross' high ranking position in the Us government, Skrulls had also taken posts as the head of NATO, and even the British Prime Minister. With Gravik now at the head of this council, there is no telling how far his influence reaches.

An invasion isn't just hyperbole at this point, it is real. The threat Fury is facing, on his own and without the back up of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, is shaping up to be one hell of a battle.
