Secret Invasion Episode 2 Review - 7 Ups & 3 Downs

8. Down - The Story Wasn't Moved Along Much

Secret Invasion, like most MCU Disney+ shows with the exception of WandaVision and She-Hulk, is just six episodes long. Really, though it's a hell of a lot longer than a movie, it doesn't allow for too much wasted time. By the end of the next episode we're already going to be halfway through the story!

Simply put, this means that the show can't afford to include anything that doesn't need to be there. Everything has to be concise, and while there wasn't necessarily anything felt that it didn't belong in the episode, the narrative wasn't exactly moved along much.

To say that this hour of Secret Invasion took up one sixth of the entire runtime, you would be forgiven for thinking that more needed to happen.

It does feel that this could be one of those TV episodes that sets the scene for more down the line, without which the big moments wouldn't be nearly so effective, and hopefully this remains the case, but there is also a very real risk that the last few episodes could feel incredibly rushed to get to a conclusion. This could go either way, but gets a tentative Down for the time being.
