Secret Invasion Episode 3 Review - 6 Ups & 4 Downs

9. Down - There's Something Missing Between Fury & Talos

Secret Invasion Nick Fury
Marvel Studios

Disney+ has given audiences some incredible MCU duos over the last few years. From Wanda and Vision, to Bucky and Sam, Loki and Sylvie, the Hawkeyes, and even Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova, there has been some genuinely exceptional chemistry demonstrated on the small screen.

You would be forgiven for thinking that Nick Fury and Talos would have added themselves to this list in Secret Invasion. The two have known each other for 30-plus years, and have a great relationship arguably trusting each other more than anyone else in the universe, but there is something missing.

It may be that for the majority of the series so far they have been at odds with each other, even struggling to get on the same page when they have been working together. It may be that Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn just don't have that same natural chemistry that some of the above actors and characters do.

It's not even like this kind of relationship would be integral to the success of the series, because it's not exactly necessary, but you do feel that this is a definite area for improvement. Perhaps had Maria Hill not been killed off so early, Nick Fury would have had someone to bounce off and this wouldn't feel like such an issue.
