Secret Invasion Episode 6 Review - 5 Ups & 4 Downs
1. Up - The Real Secret Invasion
Looking back on Secret Invasion, though it has been a compelling enough series, it is hard not to feel somewhat disappointed and underwhelmed. This is a story arc from the comics that could have easily been adapted into an Avengers movie, but instead has been watered down and changed dramatically for a Nick Fury series on Disney+.
However, if this is just the ending of the first chapter in the story, there is potential for things to get so much better. "Home" teased a continuation of Secret Invasion that is just begging for a second season.
After the attack on Ritson was confirmed to have been done by the Skrulls, the President of the USA essentially declared war on the entire Skrull race living on Earth. This led to the shapeshifters being hunted down and killed, as well as some humans, whether they were innocent or not.
This immediately has the makings of a fantastic season two, with Sonya and G'iah leading the fight against those who would drive them from the planet.
When Nick Fury told Varra that the Kree were open to holding peace talks with the Skrulls, this put a potential dampener on the story, as the shapeshifters may soon be able to go home. But for the sake of this story and the second season it could produce, here's hoping these talks don't go so well in The Marvels.
