Sense8 Finale: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Amor Vincit Omnia'

6. An Engaging Storyline

Again, it must've been really tough for Lana Wachowski and J. Michael Straczynski to write this episode considering the amount of material they had to cover. But, in spite of a few hiccups (we'll get to those later), the storyline is incredibly engaging all the way through. The narrative deviated a little in earlier episodes of Season 2 to focus on side-arcs such as Sun's revenge on her brother, but for the finale the focus was brought back to Whispers - and his devilish desire to wipeout the cluster. Of course, since the cluster had kidnapped him at the end of the previous episode, the aged antagonist was more blood-thirsty that ever.

Our eight protagonists try to work out a way to trade Whispers for Wolfgang while putting an end to BPO's zombie program. It sounds complex, and it is, but the script is tight in most places, and the pacing is great. It certainly hooks you from the word go.

The storyline is more concise this time around because the show is focused on one or two locations at a time instead of the jumping back and forth like it did in earlier seasons. There is a real sense that this is what the entire series has been leading up to and, in that way, the finale was certainly worth the wait.
