Sense8 Finale: 8 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Amor Vincit Omnia'

5. The Cinematography

Sense8 Finale

Whether you love or hate the show, there's no denying the sheer awesomeness of Sense8's cinematography. The show shoots on location around the world, meaning that we're not subjected to poor CGI renderings of Nairobi or London. Instead we get the real deal. Riley's Icelandic walks in the first season are perhaps the best example of how effective the backdrops can be - something which could not be accomplished without filming on location.

Whether it be due to the finale having a smaller budget, or perhaps it's just that it better suited the storyline, filming took place in significantly fewer arenas. The episode starts in Paris, and we get some wonderful shots of the French capital, with significant landmarks like the Eiffel Tower on show on several occasions. We then move to Naples, and the result is magnificent. The scene where Lila Facchini addresses Wolfgang and Will from her home provides us with some glorious shots of Naples from the balcony view.

The fewer locations have no impact on the cinematography, which is just as glorious as ever. If there was ever a show suited to 4K HDR it's Sense8, so if you have the opportunity to view it like this, then don't pass it up.
