She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Nine Review - 8 Ups & 4 Downs
2. Up - Jen Challenging Every Norm
When Jen looked directly into the camera and said that all of these storylines coming together out of nowhere made no sense, it was impossible to disagree with her. There was a reason that such a poor ending was (sort of) produced, and it fit with She-Hulk perfectly.
All season long, both She-Hulk the show and She-Hulk the character had challenged the norms of just about everything, from the depressing way women are treated both online and in person, to what you would typically expect from a superhero story.
This culminated in Jen’s closing remarks up close and personal with K.E.V.I.N. It was brave for the MCU to call out the tropes all too often used in the franchise itself, but if it leads to a change from the kind of out-of-place CGI fest endings that put a dampener on the likes of Black Panther and Shang-Chi, then no complaints here.
Making sure Todd was seen as the villain rather than some kind of poison in his veins, taking charge of her own show, and doing things in her own way rather than what was 'supposed to happen' in her superhero story only cemented Jen as one of the greatest new characters the MCU has introduced in Phase Four.
