She-Hulk: Attorney At Law Episode Three Review - 4 Ups & 5 Downs

The Disney+ corner of the MCU has seen its fair share of ups and downs itself ever since it opened up Phase Four of the franchise. While WandaVision and Loki were outstanding, the likes of The Falcon and the Winter Solider, What If…?, and Moon Knight underwhelmed.

Pair that with a few underwhelming cinematic releases, with the weak far outweighing the strong since Thanos’ death, many have begun to lose faith in the MCU. At the very least, even amongst the most devout fans, there is a consensus that this is something of a rough patch.

The first two episodes of She-Hulk acted as something of a reassurance to those worried about the future, and the present situation. It has been a breath of fresh air to fans, almost surprisingly so based on the reaction to the trailers prior to the show’s release.

However, the third episode of She-Hulk is simply not on the same level as those that have come before it. After a solid start, ‘The People Vs. Emil Blonsky’ missed the mark in more ways than one, and while this is just one episode and there shouldn’t be too much doubt cast over the series just yet, there’s no denying this was a poor showing.

While the first episode introduced Jameela Jamil’s Titania in its final moments, something that was incredibly rushed in itself, you would have been forgiven for thinking the character, or the moment in general would have received a bit of further context in the following weeks.

In episode two’s Ups and Downs column, ‘Superhuman Law’ was criticised for almost completely ignoring Jen’s first skirmish as She-Hulk not with her own cousin. Unfortunately, the same will be said for episode three.

As a potential spoiler alert, every episode that goes by until Titania’s return will receive a Down for this very reason. Here’s hoping this will be the last one, not only for the sake of the show and the character, but for the sanity of this writer. Right now it seems as though Titania was merely a plot device for Jen to Hulk out and lose her job, with absolutely no idea of what to do with her moving forward.

Jameela Jamil, without trying to insult the Good Place alum, seems like a fantastic casting for what she herself has described as a ‘super annoying’ influencer. So for goodness' sake, let’s see her. Bring her off the bench and actually give her something to do!
