Sherlock: 10 Worst Things Sherlock Holmes Ever Did

2. Faking His Death

Talk about a compelling season cliff-hanger. The second season of Sherlock ended spectacularly, with the iconic scene that saw the titular character leap from a rooftop to ensure the lives of his friends and colleagues would continue. It only became better when you found out that he'd faked the whole thing and was still breathing. It was an extraordinary moment, but when you step back and examine it, it's more than a little dubious.

At the culmination of "The Reichenbach Fall", Sherlock and his arch-nemesis Moriarty found themselves at an impasse. Sherlock had the upper hand at first, only for the villain to shoot himself and tie Sherlock in a tough situation where he could either jump off the roof or allow his friends to be killed by assassins. But, as the brilliant detective often does, he found a way around it, as he'd predicted such a scenario and pre-orchestrated a clever fake death plan.

While faking suicide is terrible enough and illegal to an extreme point, the most egregious thing he did here was not clueing John in. Surely he could have trusted him enough to let him know the truth, especially as it took another two years before he finally revealed that he'd faked the whole thing.
