Sherlock: 7 Predictions For The Christmas Special

5. It€™s Christmas!

It hasn€™t been explicitly confirmed, but it€™s a safe assumption (and one that everyone is making) that the Sherlock special will be a Christmas episode.

Of course, we have already seen Christmas on the show - in both series 2€™s A Scandal in Belgravia and series 3€™s His Last Vow - but the one-off special means that there€™s a chance to really do it justice.

And, of course, the Victorian setting is something that means they can really be true to the spirit of Christmas, or at least what our idea of Christmas is and should look like, given so much of it comes from that era and Charles Dickens etc.

Similarly, Christmas is an excellent setting for a mysterious story, and a snowy 1800s London would provide a perfect setting for some top-quality Sherlock sleuthing. They could go for a very Christmassy, light-hearted tone, or they could go quite creepy, as the likes of Dickens and M.R. James through to the Doctor Who specials have shown that it€™s the perfect time for a spooky tale. If it is a more fun tone, then perhaps we€™ll even get to hear this cracker:
