Sherlock: Every Episode Ranked Worst To Best

They're all fantastic, but if you were to watch one - any one - right now for the next hour and a half, which one would it be?

Almost ten million viewers tuned in to watch how Sherlock Holmes cheated death, in 'The Empty Hearse', broadcast on New Year's Day at 9pm. Not bad, considering the number of modern-day distractions we have to good old-fashioned storytelling. And it's a testament to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, to Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and to Benedict Cumberbatch's fantastic portrayal that the style of Sherlock has been such a hit. It's a programme of shocking contrasts; the warmth of humanity and the coldness of a sociopath, the greyness of mystery and the colour of morality. It's a show that tells simple stories and relationships, via the long way round, and it's one that's gripped us for four years now. But with all the blockbuster episode figures, the twists, the speculation, the theories and Cumberbatch himself, inevitably, being talked about all over the internet at the moment... which is the best episode? There are nine to choose from, and they're all fantastic, but if you were to watch one - any one - right now for the next hour and a half, which one would it be? Let's count down the contenders, romanticise the living daylights out of them, and remember to tell us your favourite in the comments.
