By no means a bad episode of television, 'The Blind Banker' has only one real flaw; it's not as good as the other episodes. It has a hard task from the outset, having to squeeze in between the thrilling 'A Study In Pink' and the incendiary 'The Great Game'. 'The Blind Banker' provides us with some funny moments though, introduces John Watson's first girlfriend in the series, and sees Sherlock in much more of an action hero role, fighting assassins and chasing them around London. It's a fun ride, but ultimately it's not quite as clever, intriguing or unique as the first episode suggested this series would be; it's a great bit of telly, just not good enough for this show. Sorry Steve Thompson: it's not a reflection on you. It's more a reflection on how good Sherlock is.
