Sherlock Lives: 10 Theories We Answer After The Empty Hearse

9. Sherlock Was Ahead of Moriarty During the Sweet Factory Investigation

One of the subtler clues, Sherlock didn't use any gloves during the investigation at the sweet factory. Once more, the theory was that he implicated himself in the crime with his overconfidence, because he was playing into Moriarty's plans. As one commenter on my original article correctly noted, this doesn't explain how he survived the fall. No, it doesn't; but it does suggest to us that Sherlock was a step ahead of Jim Moriarty. We now know that one to be true; the Holmes brothers were playing a dangerous game, but Sherlock knew that he had to ruin his reputation to bring Moriarty down. And no, the fact that Sherlock didn't wear gloves at that crime scene wasn't actually confirmed as a clue in 'The Empty Hearse'. So it remains just a nice little detail that us fans noticed.
