Sherlock Season 4: 7 Shocking Predictions That Could Come True
6. And Mary Dies Too
According to fans, Mycroft won't be the only character biting the bullet this season. Mrs Watson herself hasn't got long left either, apparently.
First of all, Mary's fate has been on the cards ever since she was introduced, seeing as Mary died (albeit 'off-screen') in the original novels. Martin Freeman has even admitted that her death is likely. He told The Telegraph:
"While we play fast and loose with the original stories, we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did. So he [Watson] gets married, and then Mary dies – so at some point presumably she’ll die.”
There you go, right out of the Watson's mouth. Even further evidence that Mary is leaving the show comes from the fact that actress Amanda Abbington tweeted a few months ago that she had reached her "golden wrap" on Sherlock. Golden wrap is an industry term describing an actor's last ever day on a job.
Of course, just because Abbington looks set to leave the show doesn't mean that her character will die. But it is certainly the likeliest option.
