Sherlock Season 4: 7 Shocking Predictions That Could Come True
5. Baby Watson's Name Has Meaning
Something we know for a fact is that the Watsons' baby girl will finally be born in episode one The Six Thatchers. And thanks to a bit of fun advertising (a baby announcement in The Times), we know that the tot's name will be Rosamund Mary Watson. Immediately some clever fans analysed (i.e. googled) the name to see if it had any hidden meaning. It turns out it just might.
Rosamund Marriot Watson was a Victorian poet and critic, who is most remembered for her poem The Ballad of the Were-Wolf. The piece sees a family repeatedly attacked by a werewolf who is after their child. One night, the father manages to cut off the wolf's paw... only to realise the next day that his wife is missing a hand, meaning she is in fact the werewolf. The father turns against his wife and kicks her out. He warns that the next time they meet, one of them is going to die...
The parallels with the Watsons are obvious here. If the name is deliberately chosen, then Mary could be hiding a dangerous secret from her husband (again) that is threatening their child. This time, the lie is too great for John to forgive and the pair fall out. Just what exactly her secret is, though, we shall have to wait and see.
