Sherlock Series 4: 10 Things You Need To Know
3. It Could Be The Last Series
It's true. After just thirteen episodes across seven years Sherlock could – emphasis on the could – be about to end.
Steven Moffat first opined the idea a few months ago, explaining:
“I don’t know how long we can keep it going… I would be moderately surprised if this was the time we ever made this show. But it absolutely could be.”
More recently, Cumberbatch himself fanned the flames of the rumour:
“We never say never on the show. I’d love to revisit it, I’d love to keep revisiting it, I stand by that, but in the immediate future we all have things that we want to crack on with and we’ve made something very complete as it is, so I think we’ll just wait and see.”
What this sounds like is that the Sherlock team are admitting that it’s getting more and more difficult to meet up again every few years to make the show. Because of how popular it is, and how the stars have repeatedly said how much they love doing it in the past, it is likely we will see more, though. It will just most likely be an even longer wait than usual.
