Sherlock Showdown: Benedict Cumberbatch Vs. Robert Downey Jr.

4. Their Funniest Moment

This is one of the easiest ones to do. Once again, we€™re faced with two different Sherlocks, two different scenarios because of character portrayal and environment around the character. However, both Sherlocks have had a funny scene or two that will make us chuckle upon remembering. I find that Benedict has his funny moments in quick glances. The way he€™ll deliver a line is where we see most of Benedict€™s comedic moments. It€™s true that the third season of Sherlock delivered more funny moments, but my favourites are still the way he smiles at the painted-on smiley face on the wall before his house blows up, or his words jumbling as he sees Irene for the first time. If I had to pick a favorite funniest moment, it would be in Series Three, Episode Three, where John picks Sherlock up when he€™s undercover, only to reveal that "he's not now!!" The toddler-esque way the line was delivered -and that scene as a whole - was hysterical to me. In the movies there are less people who want Sherlock and John together, most likely because there were just less fangirls there to watch the movies and more people there as fans of the actors or the original series. This eliminated the 'Johnlock' fan-fiction we deal with now in Sherlock and Elementary. This isn€™t to say that there aren€™t moments where we all raised an eyebrow, but that was what Arthur Conan Doyle intended. The point is: there was less of an expectation in the movies, so we got more risks. This includes Robert Downey Jr. in drag, laying with John while he€™s on a train leading to his Honeymoon. This was a hysterical moment for everyone, especially those who only see Robert Downey Jr in the characters he plays, ie: myself. This was also funny because it gave us the atmosphere of John and Sherlock together, on a honeymoon, one in drag, and it wasn€™t fanmade. This was actually happening. These two actors display different ways of showing comedy, Benedict is more subtle while Robert Downey Jr. is more blatant, but because it€™s Robert Downey Jr. in drag... Funniest Moment goes to: Sherlock Movies/Robert Downey Jr.

I'm currently attending my local college while trying to figure out who I am. I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, really any BBC show. I've also been told I'm a bit of a nerd. Specifically, a theatre nerd.
