What war is Sherlock talking about - simply the war against crime or a more specific one? And, more importantly, who will have to die for this "great cause"?
And then there are those figures, who very much resemble the Ku Klux Klan in black. Interestingly, the KKK were the villains of Doyle story The Five Orange Pips. Perhaps one of the special's influences will be that story?
