The Simpsons: 10 Best Episodes From The Past 15 Years

5. Lisa The Drama Queen

Season 20, Episode 429 - January 2009 Lisa the Drama Queen is another enjoyable Lisa episode, this time featuring Lisa and a friend creating a magical make-believe land called Equalia to play in. It's loosely based on Heavenly Creatures, which it parodies, but no real knowledge of the source material is required to enjoy it. Like any good Simpsons episode, there's a moral to the story, and in this case, it's about leaving childhood pleasures behind and coming to terms with reality - done, of course, as only The Simpsons can do it. The way in which, for example, Kearney gets pulled into the fantasy world of Equalia is fantastic, as is the band of bullies appearing as trolls, and the episode also servers to remind us how powerful the imagination can me. When I thought of this episode, I also thought of a couple of other episodes worth watching with somewhat similar themes: The Book Job, and the Haw-Hawed Couple. Those two might also be worth your while.
