The Simpsons: 10 Best Episodes From The Past 15 Years
3. Trilogy Of Error
Season 12, Episode 266 - April 2001 A stand-out in both style and content, "Trilogy of Error" was another high point in a season that was actually more decent than you probably remember (other solid episodes aside from this and Skinner's Sense of Snow include The Great Money Caper, I'm Goin' to Praiseland, Pokey Mom, and Day of the Jackanapes). This is past the point where many Simpsons critics believe the show to have gone down hill, but some of the jokes are worth repeating even today, including the classic Dr. Nick line "Inflammable means flammable? What a country!" The episode itself is a Run, Lola, Run spoof in format and is split into three segments, each from the perspective of a different character. They come together to form one of the most cohesive stories of the 2000s Simpsons (in lesser hands this format could easily have been fumbled). The plot centres around Lisa's creation of a grammar robot (Linguo) for the school science fair, Bart finding some illegal fireworks, and Homer having his thumb cut off. How that all turns out? If you haven't seen it, watch it. It's very worth it. In short, all the events are tied together, and everything actually manages to make sense, despite what Mr. Teeny says at the end of the episode ("This plot made no sense! Tell the people!").
