The Simpsons: 10 Best Mr Burns Moments

1. Mr Burns's Ultimate Catchphrase - Countless Episodes

"Eeeeeexcellent" With such a large cast, you would think that many of the supporting characters in The Simpsons might lack identity, but almost every single one is instantly identifiable and each have moments to shine. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a memorable catchphrase either and as a show, The Simpsons is full of them. One of the best catchphrases of all belongs to Mr Burns, summing up his entire character in just one word. "Eeeeeexcellent." The way he furrows his brow and taps his fingers together conveys his sinister outlook better than any scenario ever could. Mr Burns has uttered the immortal line many times in the shows history, but the best version can be found in the episode Bart Gets Famous from season 5. After Bart briefly finds fame on the Krusty show with the catchphrase "I didn't do it", people start to forget about him and he loses his star status. At the end of the episode, Homer accidentally breaks a lamp, setting off a chain reaction of the shows best catchphrases from loads of random supporting characters who seemingly appear out of nowhere. "Doh," "Ay Carumba" and "Hi-Diddly-Ho" all feature, but the best is saved for last and that of course is Mr Burns. Self parody at its finest. No other moment could have taken the top spot. Think about it. How many times have you tapped your fingers together muttering "excellent" as a plan comes to fruition? We've all done it. Don't deny it!
