Despite critical backlash and a decrease in viewership, The Simpsons pressed on with season after season of ups and downs and more often than not, mediocrity. However, the cartoon family still had a trick or two left up its sleeve. Despite having a full 22 episode season to complete the same year, the creators and writers decided to press on with long awaited plans for a feature length theatrical release. With expectations at a fairly average level, the majority of the finished product was a delightful surprise. It had the heart, laughter and imagination we all came to expect from the yellow family in its formative years. Although following seasons proved an upswing in quality wasnt to be expected, it was a nice little reminder of how great the show can be.
As a pretty nerdy guy, I've loved film and television since I was a wee lad. Growing up in Ireland, The Den was the show to watch with it playing Batman The Animated Series, Star Trek: The Next Generation and everything in between. I have an MA in Radio and Television Production and have written for various sites, hope you enjoy my articles/lists for What Culture!
