The Simpsons: 10 Greatest Movie Spoofs

7. The President Wore Pearls

Now here€™s an episode-long musical parody of a story that was turned into movie, a movie starring Madonna no less. Evita may not be the most popular or notable musical out there, but it provided enough of a skeleton for the show to build a very good, very funny story for Lisa, replete with a few well-crafted, humorous song parodies. Lisa stories can be tricky, because she isn€™t as easy to mine humour out of than, say Homer, but in this one knocks it out of the park. Lisa runs for student body president, replacing the deposed Martin Prince, and after getting the position thanks to a song that sounds eerily similar to €œDon€™t Cry for Me Argentina€ the faculty tries to keep her from using her power for, you know, good, and things devolve into a strike. It€™s all pretty dynamic, but also quite entertaining, even if you€™ve never seen Evita. Particularly funny: Groundskeeper Willie singing about how drunk he is, before driving his lawnmower into the pool.
