In a way, this episode has not aged well. There is a joke about Robert Downey Jr. having a shootout with the cops, while Homer spends his time hanging out with Mel Gibson and having a grand old time. Now, The Simpsons would likely love to have Downey Jr. provide a voice, while Gibson is persona non-grata if you arent Jodie Foster. Gibson is working on a remake of Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, which surprising isnt something Hollywood has actually done, He and Homer go to work trying to improve it, with dogs with shifty eyes and a violent conclusion. There are a lot of jokes about Gibsons filmography, back in the days before jokes about Gibson focused on his less savoury qualities. Even so, there is plenty of good stuff in this episode, even with the unintended irony. However, it does teach you that you should never moon a moving vehicle.
