4. Rodney Dangerfield
Played: Larry Burns Episode: Burns, Baby Burns Acclaimed comedian Rodney Dangerfield was the voice of Larry Burns, Mr. Burns' long-lost son who was taken away from him following a scandal. After attending the annual Harvard/ Yale football game, the train home is blocked by a sofa on the line. While technicians wonder how to resolve the problem, Larry wakes up from dozing in his souvenir shop and spots a host of potential customers. Reaching Mr. Burns' carriage, he recognises him as his father from an old photograph. Larry hitches a ride to Springfield with the Simpsons and tracks Mr. Burns down, who is stunned at first but then aims to mould Larry into his own image. This goes from bad to worse, resulting in Homer staging a fake kidnapping to prove that Mr. Burns does in fact love his son after all. Larry Burns' character is essentially Dangerfield's hilarious Al Czervik from the raunchy golf comedy Caddyshack, where he steals the movie with a number of obnoxious and insulting remarks - mirrored in his response to an unattractive debutante 'coming out': "Woah, put her back in! She's not done yet!" , and copied by Bart and Lisa insulting Marge in the basement before he insists their mother is 'alright'. The Caddyshack references continue at the finale outside the cinema, where everyone suddenly has drinks and Larry exclaims "as long as everybody's here, let's party!" in a reference to his dancing on the fairway to Journey's 'Any Way You Want It', which is playing in the background.
