3. Bryan Cranston
Played: Stradivarius Cain Episode: The Spy Who Learned Me Homer and Marge are (not for the first time) experiencing a few marital issues, and go to a movie featuring superspy Stradivarius Cain to enjoy a date night together. The night ends badly though, with Marge angry with Homer for constantly yelling out witty remarks during the film. The next day, Homer sustains a concussion at the nuclear plant and is given 8 weeks paid holiday to recover. He returns home to the stresses of family life, and decides to keep his time off work a secret. He initially enjoys the freedom, but soon begins to feel sad about things with Marge. At this point, Stradivarius Cain appears to Homer as an imaginary friend, most likely the result of his concussion. Cain begins to help Homer improve himself as a man, so that he can be a better husband. Marge eventually realises Homer hasn't been going to work and lying about it to avoid her and the family, but he wins her over by taking Cain's advice and finally telling the truth. Cranston's part in this episode is a little off the wall, but those are often the parts he plays best. As well as offering sound advice on Homer's marriage, he also has plenty of great comedy lines including "I know, a married man could never be attracted to a beautiful woman he doesn't even know.." . His awkward meeting with Lenny's imaginary friend, Mr. Huffnpuffalus, who slept with Cain's girlfriend. He accepts the apology, insisting that he did him a favour by doing so.
