16. Vegas Number

The couch gags usually revolve around the Simpson family racing toward their sofa but occasionally, they'll put on a bit of a show to really entertain the viewer. The first time the Simpsons "performed" in a couch gag was way back in season two, when they do the "Walk Like an Egyptian" dance, but they outdo themselves two years later in 1992 with a Vegas-style big musical number. Featuring high-kicking dancers, unicyclists, rings of fire and even two elephants, the Simpson's living room is transformed into a huge stage for a truly blockbusting opener. It's worth pointing out at this stage that though the scenes look reminiscent of a certain animated show called Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane's animation didn't debut until six years after this gag.
