14. Patty Is Gay - "There's Something About Marrying" (16.10)
Hyped up for months before it aired, with Fox encouraging people to play a guessing game of sorts, this episode decided that one of the characters in Springfield would now be gay, and opted to make Marge's older sister, Patty, a lesbian. It saw her announcing her love for a woman named Veronica (who actually turned out to be a man). Shocking because it purposely set out to be, it also seemed a little bit forced and and kind of unnecessary.
