Skins: 4 Reasons We're Optimistic About Series 7 (And 4 Why We're Not)

2. Jamie Brittain€™s Back

Skins Jamie Brittain His tendency to write mental health professionals as either inept or stark raving mad aside, Jamie Brittain is easily one of Skins€™ best writers. Which is to be expected since the series was initially adapted from a short story he wrote as a teenager, and he consistently wrote episodes for it until he decided to leave after Series 5 and hand the reigns over to somebody else. Logically, nobody (except maybe Bryan Elsley) knows Skins better than Jamie Brittain and it definitely lost some of its magic after he left. As well as being one of Skins€™ driving creative forces, Brittain wrote some excellent episodes including Tony€™s wonderfully bizarre Series 2 episode and the Shakespeare-infused Series 5 episode that focussed on Grace and featured what is presumably the only Shakespeare themed marriage proposal ever broadcast on E4. As well as that, he€™s working with his father Bryan Elsley again (despite them writing their Series 7 episodes solo) and the programme was arguably at its peak under their combined creative efforts. It's only fitting that Skins' erstwhile co-creator should return for the final episodes. Let's hope that Skins: Rise matches the quality of his previous work on the programme.
