Sons Of Anarchy 7.3 - 5 Talking Points From "Playing With Monsters"

5. There's A New Sheriff In Town

Throughout the entirety of this series, the boys of SAMCRO have always had a dynamic relationship with the heads of Charming law enforcement. Wayne Unser was an ally, working to keep the town safe while facilitating the needs of the club. David Hale was an idealist who wanted to clean up the town, but eventually learned to bend a little where the Sons were concerned. And Eli Roosevelt was a man of conviction who wanted things done the right way until darkness fell upon his own home. With new P.D. head Althea Jerry (played by Annabeth Gish), we€™re introduced to her via District Attorney Patterson who says she made her a name for herself battling gang crime before taking the job as sheriff, so naturally we assume she€™s going to be a hard-edged adversary for the Sons. But in her first onscreen interaction with the club, she seemingly makes it apparent that she€™s willing to go on the take to look the other way involving certain SAMCRO activities. So Chibs meets with her later, in a great scene that was equal parts seedy crooked underbelly of the law and sexual tension, and gives an envelope stuffed with cash to call of the search for Juice. But this whole thing feels too€easy. And nothing in Charming is ever easy. Is Jerry truly a cop whose willing to turn a blind eye for the sake of a little compensation, or is she baiting the Sons into trusting her so she can bring their entire organization crashing down? We€™ll have to wait and see.
