Sons Of Anarchy 7.3 - 5 Talking Points From "Playing With Monsters"
2. Luring The Niners Away From August Marks
At no point has Tyler, the head of the One-Niners since Laroy was killed, felt like an effective leader. Its probably the fault of the casting, but Mo McRae has never brought the same level of leadership and ruthlessness necessary for the role, and the character doesnt come across nearly as formidable as the other gang leaders such as Jax, Lin and Alvarez. Jax recognizes that Tyler can be controlled and wisely chooses to capitalize on this when he reaches out to strengthen the alliance between the two groups. A kilo of heroin serves a great motivator, but Tyler asks for something else: help with quelling an uprising. When the Sons lead rogue Niner Chester Clay and his crew down to the docks under false pretenses and clip them in the warehouse, Tyler agrees that the Niners will ride with the outlaws. This was huge for SAMCRO because it gives them one less group to worry about blowback from. Especially considering theyve now set their sights on the biggest dog in the yard
