1. Laying Pipe, Season 5, Episode 3
Although it was painful to watch at the time, in hindsight Laying Pipe was the best episode of Sons of Anarchy because it did a perfect job of showing two sides of arguably the show's most loved character. Opie taking on the club's problems with Damon Pope showed how selfless he was and how much he loved Jax, but also showed how reckless he'd become with his life after the death of Piney and Donna. Laying Pipe had everything you could want from a Sons of Anarchy episode and a little bit more too. Sometimes the show didn't quite manage to reach the dramatic height the writers and fans probably hoped for, but if there was ever an episode where they outdid themselves it was this one.
