7. Family Recipe (Season 4, Episode 8)

Sons of Anarchy has always been a show that has no problem with tying up loose ends and starting up new storylines regardless of where they are in the season. For example, a major plot point during the fourth season is about Juice trying to stop SAMCRO finding out that he's half black €“ something that would stop him from being a member of the club.

In Family Recipe, we see him trying to kill himself, but ultimately failing when the branch he's trying to hang himself on snaps. It's a key moment in his development as a character as we begin to see him lose control of his life due to the secrets he's kept from the club.

While one storyline begins, another one is finished as one of he show's biggest mysteries is finally answered when we find out it was Clay who killed John Teller by tampering with his motorcycle. Watching him blast Piney in the chest with a shotgun after his former friend threatened to reveal the secret was a fantastic way to end an already emotional episode, because most fans didn't believe Clay would stoop low enough to kill another one of the original members of the club.

Most episodes of Sons of Anarchy focus on an outside threat that is causing problems for the club, but Family Recipe was outstanding because they took the attention off other aspects of the story so they could show fans more about what was destroying the club from within.
