Sons Of Anarchy: 10 Most Hated Episodes
4. Small World (S5E6)
Opie's death was one of the toughest to take in all of Sons of Anarchy, but how Jax and co. got their revenge was almost a tougher pill to swallow. It's easy to understand their need to avenge their fallen brother, but they took things way further than they needed to.
As a show of good faith, Damon Pope gave Jax the address of the prison guard who orchestrated the murder of his best friend. The plan was for him to kill the killer, brutally and not before making him beg for his life, but things took a turn for the worst.
While Jax, Bobby, Chibs, and Tig were undertaking the plan, their target's innocent wife came home. In a move in keeping with his reckless nature, Tig shot her point-blank in the head to stop her being a witness, in spite of her innocence. What wasn't so in character however, was Jax being okay with it. He claimed it was "collateral damage".
Jax was always the moral compass, and the voice that stopped the Sons of Anarchy from just being a group of murderous thugs. In this moment however, he was no better than the man who killed Opie, and it made it so much harder for audiences to connect with him when he condoned the murder of an innocent woman.
