For most of Sons Of Anarchy, Tara acted as both the moral centre and as the catalyst for almost all the conflict within SAMCRO. Hers wound up being the most tragic story of the series, her eagerness to try and get Jax out of the life often at odds with what was best for him, and her love for him. Impressively, this line managed to be genuine and not Valentine's Day card-saccharine.
